Grrreatest Games 2026 UK cards

Bear 2026 packetIt is probably not an exaggeration to say that this is the most long-awaited set ever in the history of Bear Yoyo cards. Has it been worth the wait? Whilst it is a relief to finally get something different, what we have received after three years of design activity at Bear Headquarters is not actually a new set at all - just a remake of Bear's Grrreatest Games that ended in 2020.

Its hard to imagine what the thought process was in Bear HQ. Didn't anybody pipe up and say "Excuse me, guys.... but haven't we already done this?".

Three years of design activity to come up with a re-hash - such an anti-climax. My advice is to Bear going forward is this - come up with something original once a year. If you cannot think of anything, drop me a line and I'll give you some options, or maybe ask your customers......

Bear Yoyo new style boxesThere is mixed news on the packaging front - on the upside, it is all new, and I do like the look of it. The boxes are slightly smaller (bit of a cost saving here), as are the packets but the shrinkage comes with a downside - the cards are much more susceptible to damage, and of the 45 cards I have bought so far, eight are damaged, with the six suffering crimping at the top or bottom, and two being creased. Overall bad news for collectors, and clearly something that should have been trialled - or maybe I'm part of the trial.

Rant over, and back to the more mundane. The Yoyo Greatest Games (2026) cards first appeared in the UK at the end of March 2026. The cards are in Portrait format and this does represent a change from the 2026 set (don't laugh), with the numbers marked on the front.

Bear Yoyo new box styleThe set consists of an initial 60 cards. On the back of the cards is a QR code, which can (theoretically) be scanned using the "App" called Bear Adventures which enables collectors to keep track of which cards they have. At the time of going to press, just as with the previous series, the cards will not scan as the App has yet to be updated, neither has a new App been released. There is also no information forthcoming on the website. Looks like Bear have been taking their eyes off the ball here too.

The 60 base cards a sub-divided into six sets of ten cards each. The sets are Winter Sports; Water Sports; Ball and Team Sports; Racket and Combat Sports; Athletics and Gym; plus one other.

One would expect that there might be a US set, but almost certainly an International set.

Out of the initial nine boxes (5 pack) I purchased, I obtained only 15 unique cards, and 30 duplicates. This would suggest that 15 cards, out of a possible 60, have been released in March 2026. Of course, this is all down to probability, but if you are just collecting, rather than eating, buying 10 boxes should get you all fifteen cards. Then wait three months and go again. Note that I got lucky with purchasing just nine boxes to achieve all 15 unique cards.

The gallery below has been populated with the fifteen cards from batch 1 of the sixty cards that make up the base set. The first page shows the first six cards. Hovering the mouse over the numbers below (or tapping numbers if on a tablet or phone) will display the remaining pages.
